BUSINESS AND TRADE PROGRAMS
To help carry out our mission to break the cycle of poverty and promote self-sufficiency, BAM has started various business and trade programs.
When a family receives a BAM home, life is still challenging for them because most only make $80 – $150 a week in salaries. But at the Community Center, they find hope and become empowered as they study trades, learn how to start their own businesses, or receive support to expand businesses that they already have.
All of these programs geared towards supporting trades and businesses started small, but then grew over the years into what they are today. The past few years, we have focused especially on finding more ways to support our small business entrepreneurs.
We support small businesses and trades within the community through various avenues:
Our very own BAM sponsored bakery that creates extra income for our bakers as well as dozens of people who sell our bread in their communities
Financial assistance to people who already have or are starting their own business and microfinance loans for small business entrepreneurs
We offer training programs for people to learn specific trades in cosmetology, sewing, and baking as well as general small business training
A Brand New Build A Miracle Business Building
Plaza San Jose
In 2021, we were excited to finish the construction of a brand new Build A Miracle business building, which is located right in front of the Community Center. The 1st floor of the business building has our very own BAM business – The Catalina Bakery. The 2nd floor of the building is used for the business school training program, trade programs, and our adult education program. The business building is also used for hands-on learning for students who have graduated from the BAM business training program.
