The Medical Program

Economic and other support for people who cannot afford medical care.

The COVID Relief Program

The BAM Medical Program began in 2020 as a COVID relief program. When the pandemic hit, many families were left without work and absolutely no way to feed their children.

We began giving $50/week to hundreds of people who had zero work and zero income. Our leaders worked hard to find the families in their neighborhoods who needed it the most. It was a huge help to these families, many of whom typically make about $80-$120/week at their jobs.

Although it was not sustainable to hand out money every week indefinitely, through the COVID relief program, we encountered so many families who were unable to afford essential medical care.

...And so was born our medical program

Through the medical program we help people who cannot afford medical care, medications, procedures, etc. Our leaders find people in the community who have medical needs and give them money to pay for the care that they need. They also help people find doctors and book medical appointments.

Here are just a few examples of the people that this program has helped:

We also have a nurse who works 2 days a week at the Community Center to help people make doctor appointments and figure out where they can go to get care. She also provides medical care and vaccinations when necessary.

Dear sponsor, I am writing to you to thank you for the support you have given my son Rudy. He suffers from kidney failure and requires support to buy what is necessary for his dialysis. He cannot walk, he uses a wheelchair to be able to move. The support they give me is to cover his transportation costs since he has to go to hemodialysis three times a week and I also use it for his food and medicines. The help you give me is a great blessing and I thank you with all my heart.

I would like to say thank you for the glasses that I received from BAM. Because of health reasons, it was difficult for me to see well and I needed new glasses with a stronger magnification. I could not see fifty centimeters away – in fact, when people greeted me, I did not recognize them, and at night my eyes hurt. When the ophthalmologist told me that I needed a new prescription, the truth was that I was very sad. The first thing that came to my mind was how could I possibly pay for the glasses, but without them I could not see and my eyes were swelling. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you have allowed me to see the world.
