The Medical Program
Economic and other support for people who cannot afford medical care.
The COVID Relief Program
The BAM Medical Program began in 2020 as a COVID relief program. When the pandemic hit, many families were left without work and absolutely no way to feed their children.
We began giving $50/week to hundreds of people who had zero work and zero income. Our leaders worked hard to find the families in their neighborhoods who needed it the most. It was a huge help to these families, many of whom typically make about $80-$120/week at their jobs.
Although it was not sustainable to hand out money every week indefinitely, through the COVID relief program, we encountered so many families who were unable to afford essential medical care.
...And so was born our medical program
Through the medical program we help people who cannot afford medical care, medications, procedures, etc. Our leaders find people in the community who have medical needs and give them money to pay for the care that they need. They also help people find doctors and book medical appointments.
Here are just a few examples of the people that this program has helped:
- Pedro - had both hands amputated, we provided money for his PT
- Margarita - pay for her allergy medications
- Juan - support for lung cancer medical visits and treatments
- Hector - automobile accident recovery, doctor visits and medications
- Rudy - dialysis treatment for kidney disease
- Roxana - drug rehabilitation support while she was inpatient
- Jacinto - support with PT, transportation, and medications due to paralysis of his legs
