Currently eight students attend the school where a local
teacher instructs them in hair cutting, coloring, perming,
and braiding.
The school's goal is to enable students to improve their
lives. With new skills they will be able to contribute to
their family’s income as well as learn to respect and
believe in their own self worth.
She donated hair cutting chairs, a shampoo chair and bowl,
as well as a hair coloring line, tools, educational materials
and other supplies needed to get the school off the ground.
The first class of stylists is set to graduate in June 2012 and
they will need their own tools to go out and start this new
career.
Students surprised Beth with a banner to express their gratitude.

For each Build A Miracle trip to Mexico, Beth recruits stylists from the San Diego area to travel to El Florido to teach students at the community beauty school.

Beth Sczempka is owner of Tease Salon Studios in San Diego.
She travelled to Mexico as a volunteer builder with Build a
Miracle in early 2011. While there she saw the room in the
community center that would one day house a beauty
school. She also learned that the grant application to help
fund the project was denied.
Beth knew how important this school could be to the
community and made it her personal mission to get things
started.
More important, she donated her time and talent to train
the instructor who will teach at the school - and she taught
the first class of future hair stylists.
And more students are waiting their turn in line.
Along with Beth's leadership, Build A Miracle is looking
for help - donations of time, supplies, or money - to get the
Beauty School off the ground and to support graduates.
With this help, the Beauty School can become a sustainable
part of the educational and vocational programs administered
through the El Florido community center.
